The invitation:

The idea behind the Meet Your (bike) Match parties

is to get people who don’t own a bike – to come down to the shop and check out a wide range of options. Since we were at The HUB on Charles street in the west village – that means a great range of classic used Schwinns & Raleighs to brand new Linus (USA), ABICI (IT) and Batavus (DK) upright and commuter bikes. And have a party! The HUB is fortunate to be on a lovely block right next to the Hudson river with a lovely outdoor space that’s been transformed into a garden area. It was just waiting to be turned into a photo shoot & party!

So that’s what we did. The first step is to invite anyone who wants a bike but doesn’t have one. Then invite all your friends who already have bikes… but you know, want another one.

And nothing is more adorable than al fresco bike portraits! So we took a bunch of those too. Kinda like getting a picture taken with someone you might… like. Do we look good together? Oh yes, so then let’s take a spin around the block and get to know each other – I think there’s a few new lovebirds after the event. And not *just* the couple still in their tux & gown who had just gotten married & stopped by to get in on the action. Amazing!

It’s a great way to have a good time, bring out new people & old friends to interact with and talk about bicycles. Like a few other events from the Ladies Program – they’re so much fun we’re going to keep it up ALL SUMMER LONG! So if you missed this one, stay tuned because we’ll be hitting another bike shop that might be in your neighborhood! If you have a shop or know of one that you think would be a great “match” for one of our parties – send an email to: info @ nonavarnado.com

The party would not have been 1/2 as much fun without the lovely Vanessa of the For the Love of Bikes blog. She brought Balloons, candy & sidewalk chalk! Brilliant. Even more brilliant are her posts about the Hub (day before the party) and her super fun (behind the scenes) post the day after. Check them out!
