As a volunteer lead system of education and group commuter rides, LA Bike Trains is a dynamic system. Helping people get confident in riding the streets of LA to work or school. In a group, or just ready to head out on their own. We’re getting back to basics on Thursday, May 19th for ‘Bike to Work Day’ with new routes, fun pit stops with free coffee/snack and cheerful local supporters along the way.
Many routes have an opportunity-challenge issue of being too long or not quite right. And while that’s easy for our volunteer conductors to navigate, it frequently scares off folks who don’t feel comfortable speaking up asking for extra help or to meet up or leave at a different spot. Silly, but people can be shy or afraid to speak up.
We have a series of developments we’re working on to address that with the benefit of being able to make a lot of our ‘curated’ routes accessible to anyone – at any time – even outside the scheduled bike train.
Bike Trains are the ultimate solution to the ‘First Mile – Last Mile’ problem, but we’ve had not much luck in funding development. But sometime good things happen with enough patience.
