Debuting at Interbike 2011 SRAM, the manufacturers of the majority of gears, chain rings and other cycling components on bikes across all kinds of manufacturers came upon a promotional idea remarkably like the designer bikes at Fashion week in NYC & London last September. 50 artists chosen by SRAM’s marketing chief were given 100 various components and asked to create a work of art. Works were on display at Interbike, popularized online and will be auctioned off online to benefit the World Bicycle Relief. Bidding runs from November 20 – 30, 2011. Or check out the gala in Chicago.

One Response to Cycling technology gets Artsy

  1. Why are we fixated on making all cyclists perform their own repairs? I would venture to guess that at least 85%% of auto drivers don’t repair their own cars. Nowday’s nobody fixes the flats on their cars. You just swap it for a spare tire, and take the flat one to a tire shop.
